Welcome to Z-Machine Productions, where we specialize in original documentaries.

Z-Machine was born of a shared passion for life’s mysteries and the gray areas of information that comprise those mysteries. Husband-and-wife team, Jeff and Jess Finn, launched Z-Machine in 2010. Jeff is a writer and researcher. Jess is a new media specialist and web designer. Together, they are independent filmmakers.

Z-Machine, in association with Secret Handshake, is proud to offer its flagship documentary feature, Strange Septembers: The Hill Abduction & The Exeter Encounter. The film, narrated by actor Peter Weller [Naked Lunch], and featuring actors James Earl Jones [Star Wars] and Estelle Parsons [Bonnie & Clyde], and ufologists Stanton Friedman and Kathleen Marden, had its official premiere at the 2011 Exeter UFO Festival.

In July 2012, Z-Machine began production on Before the End: Jim Morrison Comes of Age, an original documentary film featuring musician, poet, and filmmaker, Jim Morrison. The film is to be unlike any previous Morrison-related media in that it focuses exclusively on his pre-Doors period via interviews with those who knew the real human being, as opposed to the mythic rock star.
